It's raining lucrative job offers at NIT Warangal which has had its best placement season yet! In a record of sorts, Facebook has offered a starting salary of INR 45 Lakhs (1 Lakh USD) to a Final Year computer-science student.
The 51-year-old institute started its recruitment drive on August 15, and on the same day the 21-year-old fourth year BTech CSE student secured the highest ever pay package of Rs 45 lakh per annum. He has upped the benchmark of Rs 20 lakh of the previous year from the campus hiring in Warangal.
He will be joining the technical wing of the Social Networking Company soon after completing his Graduation in March 2012, the institute confirmed.
While it is the institution’s policy not to disclose the names of the selected students during campus hiring, final year students of NIT wishing their buddy in the social networks jotted down “if the job is in the USA, dude the real income will be only $1,00,000 and you will not be left with much!”

About 30 students from computer science stream of NIT were interviewed by IT giants like Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle and Google. Last year, 92 per cent from the B Tech batch of the institute and 50 92 per cent of the students from M Tech batch were hired. “Most of the IT companies are willing to pay really well for skilled students and we have to wait and watch what the salary trend this year is,” said a faculty member of the NIT.
“All the programmes offered by NIT Warangal are well-recognised and curriculum is in line with the industry needs. The visiting companies have appreciated the performance of our students who lived up to the expectations of the organisations,” Ravinder Reddy, PRO, NIT Warangal, said.
According to Ravinder, the salaries offered to students ranged anywhere between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 12 lakh per annum. The recruitment process for this year that started on August 15 is expected to last till March 2012.
