(Part-1)
Win on the search engines when people search for keyword phrases related to your products or services.( see this)
Submit your site to all the major web directories. This will generate traffic directly from the directories themselves and will also help to improve your link popularity. That helps you win on Google! (See this)
Submit your site to all the major search engines. (see this)
Get people with complimentary sites to link to yours. You offer rental kayaks on the beach. Ask the local restaurant owners to link to you, and offer to link to them. Ask the local tour guides, the real estate agents, the night clubs, and everyone else. Links lead to clicks onto your website and help to improve your search engine rankings.
Buy text links on other websites. That means more spiders stopping by, more people clicking through, and better search engine rankings.
Buy banner ads on other websites. It helps to build brand recognition.
It won't cost you anything, and will lead to a few extra visitors. Plus, you're spreading your brand all over the place.
Connect your site with other sites in your niche.
Pay for clicks or inclusion on the search engines so that people will see your site in the sponsored links section of the search results when they search for keyword phrases related to your products or services.
With affiliate marketing, you can either pay per click, pay per lead generated, pay per sale, or pay per customer acquired.
Get news coverage of your business and your site. Approach online and traditional media. This will often lead to others placing links pointing to your website, which leads to more clicks and also to improved search engine rankings.
Ugly, but effective for the cost. Blast out your special offers, but be nice about it.
Promote your site. Put your url on all your license plates. Paint it on your car. Buy newspaper and yellow pages ads with your url. Put up flyers and stickers. Sponsor a little league team. Do anything and everything to spread the word about your website around your city.
Stage regular giveaways and spread the word about it.
Write articles for publication on other websites. The author profile will link to your site. The article will show that you're an expert.
Write articles for your own site regularly. This will help you to win on the search engines and gives your visitors a reason to come back over and over.
Ask for reviews of your self-published articles on other webmasters' websites. Ask for reviews of your website, your products, your software, your services. These will usually include links to your articles.
Write daily or weekly news briefs focusing in on your industry or specialty area. This keeps your site "fresh" in the eyes of the major search engines and helps you to spread a wide net when fishing for top search engine positions.
Ask your visitors to sign up for your newsletter, and encourage them to send it along to people they know. Send a newsletter regularly with teasers or lead-ins to your in-depth new articles or with special offers and the latest products.
Become active in bulletin boards and chat rooms focusing on your industry. Leave inciteful comments, and people will click on your profile, then visit your site.
Offer something people want at your site. Give them a reason to come back and get more. Offer free downloads and update them regularly. Offer coupons or discounts. Content content content.
This builds more links back to your site and establishes you as a credible reviewer, an expert in your space.
Photo contests, essay contests, goofy contests, random drawings, anything. Example: Messiest Garage in America contest on OfftheFloor.com.
Chambers of Commerce and other organizations will often add your site to their member directory. That's an added advantage over the obvious business-building and networking opportunities.
Give people another way to interact with your content.
Build your site so that it is accessible to all browsers and to PocketPC and Palm Pilot users.

Just as Google's next big thing 'Google Plus' is all set to launch, Facebook and Skype are about to strike a deal that would bring the video chatting service to the social networking site. With Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg promising an "awesome" new feature on July 6, Skype, which was recently purchased by Microsoft for a whopping $8.5 billion, could become a fixture on the world's largest social network.
The beta version of Google's social network, Google Plus, debuted last week to rave reviews, especially for its +Hangouts feature that allows for multi-user video chat.
At present, Facebook users update message and status through their profile, and share photos but the addition of video chat will bring an interesting change to their account.
Editor of Tech Crunch, Michael Arrington stated in the Next Week that Facebook, in collaboration with Skype, will unveil its video chat option which will be powered by Skype.
This move will strengthen Facebook's position in the social networking market.
Facebook at present is the most influential and one of the biggest social networking sites in the world having over 500 million active users.
This isn't the first time that Skype has been linked to Facebook.Back in September 2010 the same rumour reared its head and this March it was reported that talks had resumed between the two companies.

Starting today, you might begin noticing that things look a little different across Google products. We’re working on a project to bring you a new and improved Google experience, and over the next few months, you’ll continue to see more updates to our look and feel. Even our classic homepage is getting a bit of a makeover:
New Google homepage with a smaller logo and links moved to the top and bottom edges of the browser for a cleaner look
The way people use and experience the web is evolving, and our goal is to give you a more seamless and consistent online experience—one that works no matter which Google product you’re using or what device you’re using it on. The new Google experience that we’ve begun working toward is founded on three key design principles: focus, elasticity and effortlessness.
- Focus: Whether you’re searching, emailing or looking for a map, the only thing you should be concerned about is getting what you want. Our job is to provide the tools and features that will get you there quickly and easily. With the design changes in the coming weeks and months, we’re bringing forward the stuff that matters to you and getting all the other clutter out of your way. Even simple changes, like using bolder colors for actionable buttons or hiding navigation buttons until they’re actually needed, can help you better focus on only what you need at the moment.
- Elasticity: In the early days, there was pretty much just one way to use Google: on a desktop computer with an average-sized monitor. Over a decade later, all it takes is a look around one’s home or office at the various mobile devices, tablets, high-resolution monitors and TVs to see a plethora of ways to access the web. The new design will soon allow you to seamlessly transition from one device to another and have a consistent visual experience. We aim to bring you this flexibility without sacrificing style or usefulness.
- Effortlessness: Our design philosophy is to combine power with simplicity. We want to keep our look simple and clean, but behind the seemingly simple design, use new technologies like HTML5, WebGL and the latest, fastest browsers to make sure you have all the power of the web behind you.

Starting today and over the course of the next few months, look for a series of design improvements across all our products, including Google Search, Google Maps and Gmail.

Google + : A new way to connect and share information online

Long ago social networking was ruled by Myspace. Now,it has been completely shadowed by Facebook which has an estimated 750 million users. At present there is no social networking site that could challenge the dominance of facebook. Finally Google has confirmed that it is working on its own Social networking Website called Google+.
It will be very difficult for any new social networking site to attract user’s. But it seems google has a large fanbase and it is quite possible that it will generate the curiosity among people to try something new. Google + is not just social networking site it is simulation of your real world networking in online world and on top of that you don't have to worry about privacy issues with Google as you have already trusted Google with lots of other services.
Why Google +
Google + comes up with some of the features that we always wanted in Facebook but couldn't get. Don't you hate all these Facebook Scam you get on Facebook. Don't you go mad when a random friend adds you to a stupid group ? Don' you want a platform which is more secure and protect your online privacy. Try all new way of networking with Google Plus – same social sharing and connections but no more fiddling with user privacy. In Google Plus, your friends or followers will have to take prior permission from you, if they want you to tag in a photo or video. There is no Wall so the question of spam links and malicious apps being posted on your profile is burned to death.
Whats New in Google +
If you tag someone in a post, and share it only with him, none else can see it. Not even mutual friends. It has many interesting features including 1.Circles
2.Hangouts
3.Sparks
4.Huddle
·1. Circles: How it works
Sometimes we only want to connect with certain people at certain times, but online we hear from everyone in our friend list and that's why we often share less because of stage fright. To solve this problem we have Circles in Google+. A Circle is an identifier for the network you create and it is visible to you only. You can create as many circles as you want, and add friends to one or more circles that you have created. No one except you will be able to see the name and visibility of your Google Plus circles.
For example, Suppose you just got a friend request from a classmate , you never talked to this person and the only reason you have to add this person because he is your classmate but now with Google + Circle, you can create circles like Good friends , Just friends etc and assign this new classmate of yours to a "Just friends" circle. In this way, he will be your friend but won't get any personal updates from you.
· 2. Hangouts: -
Hangouts can be used for starting conversions anytime, anywhere up to ten people using audio and video chat. With currently available social Networking websites: -
1. You can ping everyone that’s “available,” but you’re bound to interrupt someone’s plans.
2. It is also really awkward. When someone doesn't respond, you don't know if they’re just not there, or just not interested.
But not anymore because with Google + Hangout, you can start a conversions anytime, anywhere up to ten strange people using audio and video chat. A great feature if you are getting bored and want someone to talk.
· 3. Sparks: -
It is an online sharing engine which delivers a feed of highly contagious content from across the Internet. Here you can add your interests, and Google returns relevant content from across the web – and a few clicks will start a conversation about the link with the circles you choose. +Sparks is like the discussion groups of old. You type in a topic of something you love – cycling, food, wine, shoes – and then you share the information you’ve found. Other people, from around the world who share those same passions, can comment and create conversation around your topic. The +1 button is pretty prevalent in +Sparks; it’s used as the “like” button is on Facebook.
· 4. Huddle: -
Huddle will let you save from Hurdle. With the help of this feature you can text 20 friends at the same moment. A great feature if you are looking for a group meeting online or trying to get six different people to decide on a movie.
Be the first among your friends to have Google + profile: - Invite yourself Now
This new project seems to have the entire feature needed to take down Social networking Giant Facebook but time will only tell whether this new product from Google is just another Buzz or Wave, or is Google serious this time? Is it a Facebook killer?
Questions to ask potential employers during job interviews

interview tips

Here are some informations given by an experienced engineer and his Team for a better interview by their own experiences.
( Several weeks ago, I had a chance to interview a couple of candidates for a civil engineering position. The candidates were well qualified within their own merits, each exhibiting unique skills and attributes. One thing I found to be interesting was the varying type of questions asked by the interviewees during the do-you-have-any-questions-for-us session of the interview. Some questions appeared well thought out, while others were entirely plain and not relevant to the company or the job in question.
In my years of having to listen to these varying responses, I have realized that the basis of a good question is one that shows interest in the company while still leaving ample opportunities for discussions. Any questions whose responses can be found on the company’s website should be off the table unless you are soliciting a clarification or offering a correction. I highly recommend that you never attempt the latter.
So what is a good question? Well, it basically depends on the position you are interviewing for and how the interview has gone thus far. Ordinarily, you will get the opportunity to ask questions after you have been interviewed; so, if your interview has been sour up to this point, this will be the only chance you get to redeem yourself. On the contrary, if you feel that you have had a good interview, then you have to maintain this perception.
Thus said, here are some of the questions I have been able to collect over the years which I personally found to be well thought-out and adequately open-ended.)
.(By- The Engineering Daily is an web-only magazine passionately dedicated to providing engineers with relevant and useful content on a variety of topics.)

General questions regardless of the position
- What skills and attributes do the people who do well in the company have?
- What do you like best about working at this company?
- What results are expected in this position?
- What specific problems are you hoping to solve during the first six months?
- What happened to the person who had this job before?
- What is your philosophy regarding on-the-job growth and development?

- Would it be possible to meet the people who work in the department?
- Do you encourage participation in community or professional activities?
- Do you have a management development or internal training program?
- What are the company’s plans for growth in the next five years?
- How does the company intend to remain competitive?
Management type of positions
- What do you see as the three most important capabilities of the person you will hire for this position?
- What do you see as the primary challenges to building more business or capturing more marketshare?
- What was the last person’s success in this (territory/region/position)? What would you see as being the capability you’d most like to improve with the new hire?
- What is your vision for the (region/territory)?
- How does the performance of this role play into the bigger goal or plan for the company?
- How are you perceived in the marketplace?
- In reviewing your current sales staff, what would you say are the key qualities that are common to your top producers, as I’m going to model myself after the best people in your company?
- I’m also interested in career pathing–logically, is there a next step that would be in progression from this role? (National/Major Accounts? Management?)

Project Engineer (Entry level)
- What design programs/software does your company use, i.e. Microstation, AutoCAD?

- What would you like to see the person who fills this position do differently?
- What qualifications would you expect the successful candidate to possess?
Risky questions to ask
The following questions are termed as risky because the outcome is entirely dependent on the translation by the interviewer. You should use these questions if you have a high degree of confidence that you are one of the preferred candidates. Before you use any of these, we urge to carefully consider the potential reward vs. the risk.- Why are you looking at external candidates for this position, instead of promoting from within?
